Friday Night Sound Bath with Maren Ashby
- When
- Friday, November 20
- 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM · 1h 30m
Come lie down. For an hour and a half the only thing you have to do is listen. Maren plays eleven quartz crystal bowls, a Tibetan bowl set she has carried around for twenty years, and the big 36-inch gong, while the light goes from orange to dark over the rocks outside our window. No experience needed, and there's nothing to get right. Most people drift somewhere between asleep and awake. Some cry, some snore. Both are fine. Doors open at 6:30 so you can settle in. We start at 7:00 sharp and close the door once we begin, so please come early. We have mats, bolsters, blankets and eye pillows; bring your own if you like yours better. Wear something warm and loose, skip the perfume, and have a light dinner. Only 40 mats, and we usually sell out the week of. The studio is upstairs (14 steps, no elevator), so let us know if stairs are hard for you and we will work it out. Herbal tea afterward for anyone who wants to linger.

Facilitator
Maren found the bowls in 2009, after a decade as a hospice nurse in Tucson, when a friend dragged her to a sound bath and she slept better that night than she had in years. She moved to Sedona in 2016 and opened Stillpoint above the frame shop on Painted Canyon. She plays every Friday she's in town, keeps the room small on purpose, and still answers the studio email herself.
